Dr. Dorothy Duffy

Dr. Duffy’s research interests are closely related to several topics of interest to the Center, including radiation damage in fusion reactor materials, magnetic properties of supported metal nanoclusters, and effects of electronic excitations on radiation damage. She will provide oversight and guidance on effects of electronic excitations on radiation damage, which relies on the TTM and 2T–MD model. The TTM approach describes the energy dissipation within the electronic structure and transfer to the atomic structure, which is used as input for MD simulation of inelastic thermal spikes. The 2T–MD approach directly couples thermal transport models from electrons to atoms in MD models [Duffy, 2007, 2008, 2012].
